Re: New member looking for where best to start

Hi Matt,
Welcome to the program. I'm sure we can get to the bottom of your steep pull pattern (pun intended). When you analyze your own video, you'll want to look at some relevant checkpoints to see WHEN you are getting steep. I've attached a few sc…

Thanks Trey,

Working on the next batch. I think this format will be my go-to for the next year at least. Glad you're enjoying it!

Hi Guy,

I haven't checked it out in person yet. But I chatted briefly with Dr. Cheetham about it. It sounds like they are fairly accurate with the big angular measurements for the body, which is great. But those aren't the most useful parameters wh…

I'm not a huge fan of using the swing fan for speed training. I think it encourages too much early-arm action. But I do use one occasionally for working on face training. If you remove two of the blades, then you have a device where squaring the fac…

I use Analyzr when recording videos for the site, but I don't use it in my coaching. With my students, I just use Hudl or the native iPad camera for quick observations. The only drawback with Analyzr was trying to import clips mid-lesson took a coup…

Re: Trail Leg Mechanics

Hi John,

I think what you're noticing is the femur getting pulled by the pelvis the pelvis rotates. On average, the hip has approximately 45 degrees external rotation. If the hips are open 45 degrees (or more) at impact, then the hip will have to …

Re: New Member, looking for feedback

Great feedback! It sounds like you've narrowed it down to top of backswing with speed. You can use video to monitor what changes when you go harder (does the arm get more behind at the top in preparing to use speed, or does it fall behind as you sta…

Hi Dave,

Welcome to the site! I'm glad you're working through the program, I think you keyed in on one of your big core movements. See the photos, your arm gets behind at the top. I'd be curious to see if that's consistent on all length swings or …

I often get asked my opinion on such things as drills, teaching ideas, and in this thread, training aids. I would put it in the same category as things like the power wedge (anti sway foot trainer) or swing guide (wrist hinge trainer). It's not a ba…

It's not just armsy vs handsy, the shirt restricts arm rotation (shallowing). So it can help you stay connected, but it can also block some of the things that make a connected swing work. So you have to be really careful with that kind of device. Wh…

We had a swing shirt at the club I worked at in Houston. I wasn't a huge fan. I'm sure it can help some people, but it seemed like it prevented a lot of the good arm movements in exchange for keeping the arms close together. I prefer holding somethi…

Re: Lead Leg During Backswing

Yes, I think that specific look would have a negligible impact. It might help or restrict hip turn in the backswing, but the change would be to allow for better use of the trail side, not what's happening at the lead hip.

Hi Tim,

I think the pictures here are the most telling. The body pivot pattern appears to be more of a back extension pattern. You mentioned not being able to feel the power source. The different power source is using your abs, like a crunch, vs us…
