Re: Starting my self-coaching journey

Funny. I don't get tired of it, but I do keep it in context. I've learned from my students that feels can change dramatically day-to-day and the same "feel" can look different in sequential days. So our feels need frequent checks and calibrations.

Sorry about the cut-off wrist. I don't have a great home studio yet for filming those quick responses.

I would usually start with some follow-through holds to work on the ulnar. Or the trail hand shot put to get the feeling of doing it dynamically.…

Thanks for the video, it helps clear some things up. Here's a quick video response to keep you moving forward until I can film a "trail arm line" video in the near future.

Let me know if you have any other questions about the topic,

That would help. The site has lots of drills, so yes, we have lots of options to get you to try and feel more of a body hit and less of an arm hit. But I'm trying to figure out what didn't click with the first attempt.

Another good drill for you m…

Feels can be very individual, but my guess is that your unhinge isn't going to feel passive. It's going to feel active. But one thing that could make it feel less active is more of the thoracic extension (chest bump). That gets more vertical pressur…

I hope we can get you to a place where you are happier with the release. One thing to understand is the roll of the shoulders and how they link up with the wrists. To help me, can you post a face on swing? If you have the single-arm drills, that can…

Re: New Member release concept question

Happy to help Jason. I do like to see all the angles released after impact in a full swing. It helps with the flat spot, arc width, and club face closure speed. But the question becomes how do you do that?

A couple questions about your current phil…

Hi Jason,

During my studies of AMM 3D I was lucky enough to be able to see, and study, many of the top golfers at the top. I've been able to study both Rory and Jordan Speith, and I'd say that they have more similarities than differences. They shar…

Do you have a video of you doing the drill? those can be really helpful in deciding which drill to do instead. It gives a glimpse into how your brain is currently "solving the problem".

The roundness of the ribs is pretty hard to see from down the line. But it does look like you're making progress.

Comparing the posture in the two pictures. Yes, I slightly prefer the more recent one.

Our weather is just turning toward spring, h…

Hi Dirk,

Unfortunately, there isn't a standard for bounce numbers and designs across manufacturers. Also, I think adjusting bounce has just as much to do with the firmness and type of soil as much as the thickness or length of the grass. I would gi…

Looks like you're on to something. It's definitely the best your impact position has looked, arm height is much better and the release is more shallow. So the positions are good. That said, the follow through position gives me a little concern for c…

When it comes to AOA and solid strikes, I usually start with the impact line. https://www.golfsmartacademy.com/golf-instruction/training-your-low-point-line/

You'll see that while you get your body stacked up pretty well (So I don't think you need …

Re: shaft shallowest at top of swing

I think that's a good starting point, but I would be curious to Dr. Kwon's opinion as well as how to handle it from above the FSP (ie. in transition).

Hi Guy,

Thanks for the question, I'm sure a lot of other golfers have similar questions. I hope that at some point we have a number we can reference (neutral) and you can quickly see if you are steeper or shallower than that. I think the challenge …
